An abundance of prizes from the Berliner Wein Trophy 2021

We are pleased to share with our community of loyal winelovers the latest oenological awards that three of our red wines have achieved following the spring tasting of the Berliner Wein Trophy 2021.
Our wines awarded with the Gold Medal:

  • Leonardo da Vinci Rosso Toscana IGT
  • Da Vinci I Capolavori San Giovanni Battista Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
  • Leonardo da Vinci Governo all’Uso Toscano Toscana IGT

Three gold medals for three red wines symbolizing our “Leonardo da Vinci Vitruviano” and “Da Vinci I Capolavori” collections, recognized by the prestigious Berliner Wein Trophy. Since 2004, the BWT has represented the largest wine competition in the world and the most important wine tasting in Germany, under the patronage of the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) and the UIOE (International Union of Oenologists). Every year, BWT brings together famous manufacturers and distributors from around the world. The number of samples presented is constantly growing with nearly 14,000 entries per year.

Toscana IGT Rosso 2019 from the Leonardo da Vinci collection – GOLD MEDAL

A Tuscan red wine obtained mainly from Sangiovese grapes grown in Vinci and in the neighboring municipalities. It has an intense red color. The nose is of beautiful intensity, with notes of red and black fruits. The palate shows a great softness with an intense and long finish.

San Giovanni Battista Brunello di Montalcino 2015 from the Da Vinci I Capolavori collection – GOLD MEDAL

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG “San Giovanni Battista” is obtained from a slow maceration on the skins of Sangiovese grapes, followed by a fermentation of 15-20 days with light but frequent pumping over which enriches the complexity of the wine. To ensure excellent color and tannin performance, the wine fermented in steel, to be then transferred for aging in oak barrels for at least 2 years. A great red, elegant and refined, the result of the mastery of the Metodo Leonardo®.

Governo all’uso Toscano Toscana IGT 2019 from the Leonardo da Vinci collection – GOLD MEDAL

“Governo all’Uso Toscano” immediately evokes the ancient Tuscan tradition of double fermentation caused by the addition of a certain amount of must and skins. In the case of this red wine, the Sangiovese and Merlot grapes are vinified separately. The blend is carried out in November, and dried Merlot grapes are added between January and February. From there, the wine continues its maturation in steel tanks for another three months. This means that this Tuscan red wine in the mouth is well balanced and full-bodied with a pleasantly elegant finish.

Let’s raise our glasses and toast to these important medals! Cheers.
