Leonardo da Vinci was the son and grandson of wine producers and his family owned several vineyards in the countryside of Vinci. Leonardo immediately became interested in the subject, becoming, with his writings on wine, an expert agronomist and winemaker.
The wine was regularly inserted by Leonardo in his shopping lists, perhaps next to a drawing of unsurpassed beauty or near an important scientific demonstration.
Thus we know from Leonardo himself that he loved to drink a glass during meals. And from his Codex Atlanticus (sheet 188) we learn his high spiritual conception of the effect of wine on man:
“Already the wine entered the stomach...already the soul of that begins to abandon the body; he has already turned to the sky, he finds the celabro (the brain), the cause of division from his body ...…”.
Leonardo loved drinking a pleasant wine. To obtain the desired result, he outlined the technical, viticultural and oenological methods to be followed in order for the product to be of excellent quality.
We at Cantine Leonardo da Vinci resumed his teachings and created Leonardo Geniale, the wine produced according to the Leonardo® Method.
