Leonardo Wine Genius goes to China

The figure of Leonardo da Vinci has always fascinated people all over the world and it was also so on the occasion of the Leonardo Genio del Vino event, which took place last September 7th in Shanghai for the launch on the Chinese market of the new wine collections from Cantine Leonardo da Vinci.

The event, held together with the Chinese importer Shanghai Aroma, took place within the Bulgari Hotel with the participation of sixty of China’s most influential distributors and important institutional offices.

The afternoon began with a training and presentation about Leonardo Da Vinci Spa projects by Sales Director Massimo D’Isep, followed by a technical tasting of 6 wines from the Genius-inspired collections led by an AIS qualified Chinese sommelier. The 1502 Da Vinci in Romagna, Da Vinci I Capolavori and Villa da Vinci collections were unveiled to the Chinese market.

Once the event was closed, the evening continued in the splendid hall of the former Shanghai Chamber of Commerce building, the Bvlgari Ballroom, where guests and the trade press enjoyed a gala dinner curated by star chef Cristina Bowerman, ambassador of the project and creator of a special menu dedicated to the Genius “Culinary visions from the future” combined with the wines of Cantine Leonardo da Vinci.

During the dinner, the music of the band Golden Bees entertained the guests, and the event ended with a speaker from the institutions present: Ludovica Murazzani of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, Emanuela Vizzaro of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China, Adele Lobasso Cultural Officer of the Culture Institute of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai and Valentina Petroli Deputy Director, ICE Shanghai.

All the speeches underlined the cultural value of the project (among other things, during the evening, the guests were able to see the trailer of the documentary The Wine of Leonardo made with the participation of the Oscar winner Giovanni Storaro) and the importance of Made in Italy in the wine sector. Leonardo is a universal genius, but he is an Italian genius. Moreover, it is he who has triggered the creation of the image of Italy that is then rooted in populations around the world: the ability to invent products enriching them with qualitative contents, the so-called “Italian genius”.
